Soldier Blue

Sunlight fades to blackened sky
As full moon rises high
The Devil walks the streets alone
Wolves bay a howling cry

When winter night turns frigid
And red hot glows the flue
The wraith hides in the darkness
In fear of Soldier Blue

The Velcro straps secure his vest
His badge is shined and bright
Weapon charged and holstered down
He's readied for the fight

He softly opens up the door
Where children sleep in bliss
Cheek to cheek whispers his prayer
And seals it with a kiss

In the blackness of the winter night
Good men are hard to find
Comes one who lights the bloody path
And toes the Thin Blue Line

Fear not the one who guards your door
He guards it just for you
But if its evil you intend
You'll soon meet Soldier Blue
